Offshore Work Day 1

Today, Dr. Brian Irish, a horticulturist with the United States Department of Agriculture from the Tropical Agriculture Research Station in Mayaguez, accompanied us for a day on the water. After a tour of the reserve's perimeter, we went tow-boarding. During tow-boarding, we came across a lost anchor lying on the reef of which Dr. Irish helped to remove.

Along with the anchor, we managed to collect 13 blocks, and two huge bag fulls of plastic, cans, ropes, bottles, and other debris by scuba diving.

Thanks Brian for your help! If anyone is interested in helping us out in this effort feel free to contact me (Wess) at (401) 258 4627 or (787) 831 3929 or by email at siestasyolas6@aol.com. We need volunteers for both the boat and nearshore work.
